Comprehensive Eye Evaluation

Eye examination means only power testing to the public. Testing the refractive power of the eye, though it is an important part of the procedure, a Comprehensive Eye Evaluation involves testing the eye’s muscle balance, the health of the front portion of the eye and its structures, the pressure of the eye, measuring the field of the eye and after applying drops (dilatation drops which help to view the inside of the eye) check for the normal status of the eye’s inside. This complete comprehensive eye evaluation usually takes at least one to one and a half hour.

Dilatation |
Dilating drops are drops that the eye care provider puts in your eyes to make the pupils bigger in order to get a better view of the internal structures of the eye. After dilatation various instruments and lights will be used to check the eyes inside. Those with eye diseases should have a comprehensive eye evaluation always. It is very important to have a dilated examination at least once in two years even when the eyes are normal.
After dilatation the eyes, there will be glare in out doors. The glare might last till the effect of the drops wears off. Please use sunglasses till then.
The eye tests for contact lens fitting, laser treatment and tests for children includes more advanced and specialized procedures. |
